Georgian Wine Exports Continue to Increase

In January-May 2021, up to 36.4 million bottles (0.75 l) of wine were exported from Georgia to 55 countries worldwide, which is 15% more than in the same period of 2020, - reports the National Wine Agency. According to the agency, the total revenue of wine exports amounted to USD 82.4 million, which is an increase of 8% over the same period last year.

 
As the Wine Agency notes in its statement, the top five Georgian wine importing countries are: Russia (increase 17%), Ukraine (increase 6%), Poland (increase 11%), China (decrease 3%), and Kazakhstan, (increase 80%).

"It should be noted that in addition to Georgian wine, in the first five months of 2021, 13.5 million bottles (0.5 l) of brandy and 209 thousand bottles (0.5 l) of Chacha were exported from Georgia. Revenues from the brandy exports, compared to the same period last year, increased by 3% and reached 23 million US dollars, while the value of exported Chacha reached 567 thousand US dollars, while revenue growth was 30%", - reads the statement.

The Wine Agency points out that throughout January-May 2021, a total of 270 companies exported different amounts of Georgian wine and alcoholic beverages. Overall, the revenues from Georgian wine, brandy, Chacha, brandy alcohol and brandy on tap exports equaled USD 130 million, which is 8% more compared to the same period of last year.
